Tool Anatomy

  • Parts of the jointer are properly identified

Pre-Operation

  • Safety precautions are followed - safety glasses, proper clothing, work area cleared, etc.
  • Stock is checked for issues/problems
  • Supports or trained assistants are available to help with outfeed if necessary
  • Proper push aids are selected

Operation

  • Dust collector is used properly
  • Proper body position
  • Infeed table is adjusted properly
  • Fence depth is set properly
  • Material is fed properly
  • Adjust infeed table and fence

Post-Operation

  • Work area is cleaned

Lockout/Tagout Procedure

  • Tool unplugged and plug wrapped in safe/visible location, barrel covers and locks, tag filled out and posted, front desk notified.
